FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Adventurethon just for the super fit?

Although the Adventurethon is demanding, you don’t need to be super fit or super-fast to finish the Enduro, Ultra Enduro & endurance Duathlon. You do, however, need to be mentally tough and able to overcome the desire to quit! ...if you feel you aren't up to that challenge there are shorter events that can be entered to get a taste for adventure without the distance and difficulty factors.

What Equipment do I need to supply for the Adventurethon?

3 Disciplines paddle, mountain bike & run!You will want to ensure that you have sufficient equipment such as a kayak, ski or outrigger including all equipment associated with that sport (eg paddle, bike, Bike shoes & appropriate shoes for running)

Adventurethon is typically self-supported, it is important that you bring sufficient water for your day. There are normally a couple of times into transition where you can re fill your camelback or water bottles. There will be "emergency only" re fill stations at set points of the course but they are a slow way to do things and should not be relied on as your main source of water. It is recommended you bring with you one litre minimum for every hour you will be on the course.

There will be drinks at transition on the day, but it’s important that you plan to support yourself in case conditions are hotter than normal (fairly likely to be the case!)

SUN PROTECTION is also important, a hat is a must, sunscreen, zinc, long sleeves

TRAIL PROTECTION Good trail running shoes will make a difference, any dodgy ankles or knees should be strapped to protect them from re injury in the trails.

Team options for each race- Are the teams in a relay fashion or does every team member run next to each other?Teams can be done in either manner. Side by side is a great way to share the experience with friends, it allows you to chat on the run and keep motivated with a group. Relay is great when someone really wants to push it hard for a short distance, or doesn’t have the fitness to perform the whole race themself, but still a great way to share the fun!

Is there any merchandise for the competitors?Yes merchandise is included, a hat and singlet are included in your race rego pack.

I don’t have a kayak but I really want to do one of the courses with a kayak leg? Anaconda, the Magnetic Island Sea kayakers and some other companies hire them out for the weekend. If you need a kayak to hire and have had no luck, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Do I need to bring any special food or nutrition? It is advisable that you bring plenty of hydration and snacks to rehydrate and give you energy for the race. You may be out there for a few hours (or more) and should consider how much energy your body requires for such an event. (At least 1 Litre of water per hour you plan to take). There are many options for nutritional needs of the day. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  to receive more direction for nutritional requirements if you have any questions.

Can I bring my family/friends/cheer squad or will they just be in the way?Of course you can bring your family or friends. There will be long periods of time where they will not see you due to the racing being in 'adventurous' areas. But we have set up Transition so that you can have support people nearby to cheer you on.

The Event on Magnetic Island looks like I will have to plan how to get my Kayak and or Mountain bike over, how do I do that? There are a couple of options to choose from. Please see the entry details tab for magnetic island event
