The 2013 Adventurethon Townsville     National Challenge

NEW! Now a 2 Day Festival

the 13th and 14th July 2013

This Event Has received a major facelift with the addition of the Rockwheelers "Under the Radar" track ,a paddle to Picnic bay Magnetic Island and the addition of the Large run to Mt Marlow summit.This event will probably be the most pleasurable course we have run to date, with each component being an amazing scenic and pleasurable experience.

REGISTRATIONS OPEN FOR PAST ATHLETES SUNDAY 5TH MAY AT 11:59PM (SECRET CODE EMAILED TO ALL ATHLETES)

Registrations open for the General Public Begins Tuesday 7th May at 11:59pm
 General Public Entries Phase 1 – finishes May 22nd at 11:59
General Public Entries Phase 2 ends 7th July 11:59pm
We expect Entries will be sold out BEFORE Midnight 7th July so please don’t miss out.
Due to Safety and logistics concerns, NO teams or individuals can be added or swapped on the day of the event.
 

Briefing & Carb Up Dinner:  Friday Night 12th July prior to competition

Registration starts 5pm till 7pm (pick up bags and mingle over dinner)

Please ensure those people sharing boats between wave starts are familiar and confident to adjust boats & PFD’s quickly between waves as race organisers need to stick to allocated timings for safety purposes.

 


  Ultra Adventurethon is the ultimate challenge for the July Adventurethon National Challenge Festival.

Paddling to and from Magnetic Island, running the flats of magnetic Island, Mountain biking the coast and the Town commons wetlands national park & Under the radar Track, finishing with a Run up Mt Marlow & the Graveyard loop & coastline.

  • 16.2km Paddle to Kissing Point & then Picnic Bay Magnetic Island
  • 2.4km Trail Run on Magnetic Island
  • 8.4km Paddle
  • 28km Mountain bike ride (on the New Under The Radar track)
  • 14km Trail Run (Featuring the Summit of Mt Marlow & graveyard loop)

Total Distance 69km

 

All registered Athletes will receive a guide document of the Course in the weeks leading up to the event.

Course will be Marked and Marshalled on the day

NO NAVIGATION is required.

 

  Enduro Adventurethon is a Shortend Paddle and run

Paddling to and from Magnetic Island, running the flats of magnetic Island, Mountain biking the coast and the Town commons wetlands national park, finishing with a coastal trail run and beach run.

  • 7km Paddle Around Triangle and out to middle of the channel
  • 28km Mountain bike ride (on the New Under The Radar track)
  • 6.8km Trail Run (Featuring the Exit of the Mt Marlow track & graveyard loop)

Total Distance 41.8km

 

Dirty Duathlon Run, Ride Run Townsville

Run the Mt Marlow Summit, Ride "Under the Radar" track & the Town commons wetlands area & Finish with the Shortened Graveyard loop overlooking Magnetic Island & the war bunkers of the Townsville coastline

  • 10.4km Trail Run of the Mt Marlow Summit back to Transition
  • 28km Mountain bike ride (on the New Under The Radar track)
  • 3.6km Trail Run (Graveyard loop)

Total Distance 42km


 

Taste Of Adventurethon

Experience a Taste of the Adventurethon without the difficulty factor and massive distances involved like in the other events.There is just Enough of each discipline to give entrants a taste of the adrenaline without as much training, or just to foicuys on an all out Speed rush event for those used to faster bursts of energy.

  • 1km Paddle
  • 10.3km Mountain bike ride on the freshwater lagoon trail (plenty of room to suit beginners with little off road skill)
  • 4.41km Trail Run (Graveyard loop + visit to forts on coastline)

Total Distance 15.71km

 

Junior Adventurethon

Due to Many requests by Juniors & Parents, the course is now exactly the same distance as the Taste of Adventurethon meaning Juniors can have the support and encouragement of a parent during the event.This will be a fast Course which is scenic and challenging & will make a great experience thats achievable for the determined child.

  • 1km Paddle
  • 10.3km Mountain bike ride on the freshwater lagoon trail (plenty of room to suit beginners with little off road skill)
  • 4.41km Trail Run (Graveyard loop + visit to forts on coastline)

Total Distance 15.71km

 

TRANSITION

Transition (bike and kayak) will be open from the following times:

Saturday

Ultra course: 5:30am – 6:30am

Enduro course: 5:30am – 6:30am

Duathlon: 5:30am – 6:30am

Sunday

Taste of Adventure: 6:30am – 8:00am

Junior: 6:30am – 8:00am

Legal Terms & Conditions

  1. I acknowledge that competitive Racing involves the real risk of serious injury or even death from various causes including overexertion, equipment failure, dehydration, accidents with other competitors, spectators or road users, coarse and weather conditions and other causes.
  2. I understand that I should not compete in this event unless I have trained appropriately and physical condition has been verified by a medical practitioner.
  3. By completing, I accept all risks necessarily flowing from my participation which could result in loss of life or permanent injury. Accordingly I release all persons or corporations associated directly or indirectly with the conduct of the event from all claims demands and proceedings arising out of my participation and hereby indemnify them against all liability for all injury, loss of damage arising out of or connected with my participation in this event.
  4. I consent to receiving any medical treatment including ambulance transportation that the event organisers think desirable during and after the event.
  5. I consent to event organisers using my name image and likeness before during and after the event for event promotional broadcasting or reporting purposes in any media.
  6. I understand that compulsory insurance cover effected for participants in this event may not cover me for any or all injury, loss or damage sustained by me.
  7. Safety precautions undertaken by organisers (such as course supervision, race and safety briefings, bicycle and helmet safety checks) are a service to me and other competitors but are no guarantee of safety.
  8. I am fully responsible for the security of my personal possessions at the event.
  9. My registration is not transferable to other people. If a I am unable to compete, of if the event is cancelled by way of circumstances beyond the control of the race director, my registration fee is non-refundable.
  10. I have listed below my medical or physical conditions from which I suffer that might affect my performance or be relevant if medical treatment is needed. I accept the risk of competing, despite these conditions.
  11. I agree to abide by all race rules and directions issued by Adventurethon Australia and the event organiser.
  12. Event organisers may change the event format, course or other race conditions at their discretion. If that occurs, this agreement applies to the changed conditions.
  13. I WILL SUPPLY & WEAR MY OWN PFD TYPE 1 or 2 IF I AM KAYAKING
  14. I certify that I am 18 years or older and I have read this document and fully understand it
  15. changes to registration information (e.g changing individual entry to teams etc) within the last 3 weeks before the event,will incur a $30 fee
