Albany Expert skills clinics
We are very excited to announce that in conjunction with The Department of Sport and Rec and the City of Albany, members of the public will be able to participate in free skills clinics this January 7-10 , learning skills from some of Australia’s best sportspeople.
Our experts include Peak Adventures lead Instructor ,Adventure racer Jarad Kohlar and MTBA Mountain Bike coach and Elite female mountain bike rider Jodie Willet.

Kayaking and Surfski with Jarad Kohlar

When: Thursday 7th Jan
Time: 3:30 – 5:30pm
Location: Anzac Peace Park (the park at the bottom of York St next to Entertainment centre)
Equipment: kayaks/ skis and paddles can be supplied or BYO kayak and paddle for analysis on your current form.

  • Skills of paddling including the Most efficient paddle stroke
  • Getting More speed from the boat
  • Trying a few different types of Kayaks/ Surfskis to get a feel of what they can do
  • Ask Jarad questions pertaining to racing

 
Women’s session MTB Skills with Jodie Willet
EPIC Official 2014
When: Thursday 7th Jan
Time: 5:00 – 6:30pm
Location: Apex drive Downhill carpark
Equipment: BYO Mountain bike helmet and hydration
Starting with the basic skills on the less technical sections of track, then a ride through of skills then a chance to hit the Downhill track features and learn about those in more detail. Includes riding hacks to ride with more control and confidence.
 
 
MTB Skills session with Jodie Willet & Jarad Kohlar

When: Friday 8th Jan
Time: 7:00am- 08:30am
Location: Apex drive Downhill carpark
Equipment: BYO Mountain bike helmet and hydration
Starting with the basic skills on the less technical sections of track, then a ride through of skills then a chance to hit the DH track features and learn about those in more detail. Includes riding hacks to ride with more control and confidence.
Riders will be seeded into 2 groups to suit their abilities over technical obstacles.
 
Off Road Running Skills

Location: Desert corps memorial carpark (Apex Dr)
Equipment: BYO running gear and hydration
Learning the tips to gaining control on the technical trails to build more speed and agility
 
 
All Adventure Skills clinics at Anzac Peace Park

When: Sunday 10th January
Time: 11am till 12:30pm then Trail Running & Rock Hopping Secrets 1pm
Location: Anzac Peace Park (the park at the bottom of York St next to Entertainment centre)
Equipment:
Kayaks/ skis and paddles can be supplied or BYO kayak and paddle for analysis on your current form.
BYO Bike and helmet etc
 

  • Come and try kayaking to suit various abilities and skills (with Jarad Kohlar)

(Kayaks Supplied)

  • Mountain Bike Tips and skills practice with Coach Jodie Willet (bring your bike and helmet)
  • Trail Running & Rock Hopping Secrets 1pm (Jarad Kohlar) 30 minutes (wear comfortable running clothes and supportive shoes)
