Kalbarri Gorge Adventure Run – Stage 1

An Adventurous run through Kalbarri Gorge area taking in some rough rocky terrain and an abseil.

Date: 2nd June        

Time: 7:30 – 11:30 am (in wave starts) 

Location: Kalbarri, WA (Z Bend Carpark at the National Park)

Briefing: 7:00 am @ Start line (Zbend Carpark).  Kalbarri abseil will run through abseil technique and safety tips etc

Registrations: All registrations are ONLINE. Online registrations close Thursday 9pm (unless sold out earlier)

Race pack pick up –     Friday 1st June at Kalbarri Foreshore (Adventurethon Tent). Abseil equipment and instructor will be available for you to ask questions.

Saturday 2nd June from 6:30am at Z Bend Carpark.

You must attend in person to collect your race pack as you will need to sign in indemnity form.  You will also need to nominate an emergency contact person (so make sure you have your phone handy if you’re not great at remembering phone numbers).

Presentations: All runner will receive their medallions at Presentations at 6pm at Kalbarri Foreshore. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each category will be presented and all finished will be invited to collect their finishers medallion.

Presentation time and Parties on both Saturday &  Sunday just prior to the fires show and live music of the Kalbarri Canoe and Cray Carnival on the Kalbarri Foreshore at 6:00pm.

Pull up a chair, watch the sunset, grab some food and drink from one of the many food vendors at the carnival and listen to a set of great live music before we run through our podium of each event. Finish with more awesome music and party into the night with the Bar open till midnight each night.

Saturday Night Live Music on the Foreshore-This music duo consists of Donelle Bleakley and Dave Mackintosh.  Donelles sings and plays Acoustic guitar, saxophone and flute.Dave sings back up and plays electric guitar. Soft to hard classic pop rock, Country rock, Top 40 Tunes, Popular classics from the 60s- 70s – 80s -, 90s right up today’s generation of music. BAR OPEN TILL MIDNIGHT



Ultra – 11km 

**UPDATE** ALL 11km Runners will now start with Abseil Harnesses and Helmets on ready for Abseil after approx. 1km of running! (SO GET A GOOD START, we will have 3 x ropes and 6 x instructors to get you going quickly)


Kalbarri Adventure Run showcases breathtaking views of amazing Gorge System and red rocks that Kalbarri is well known for.

Starting at the Z Bend Carpark inside the National Park, you head down a moderate track before getting to a series of ladders which take you down to the river access area heading upstream. The 11km course continues along the riverbed for a few km befor

e turning around and heading back towards the access track you came down on. After a short climb part way up the gorge there is an Abseil approx. 25m and then a fast finish with more uphill running back to the finish at the car park…BREATHTAKING for sure!

Terrain path down is grade 3, moderate track with various rock step downs. River bend is various rock hopping, grade 4 track. This scenic 11km trail run covers lots of the river and there may be some small pools of water to cross.

Adventurethon Courses are marked with coloured ribbon and signs. There is no need to navigate. You will need to be aware of your surroundings to follow the ribbon and signage.

Enduro, Taste & Junior – 4km

Kalbarri Adventure Run

Access the gorge just like the 11km runners do, the 4km coursers will be enjoying the same scenery and riverbed but quicker.

Run down from the Z Bend carpark to the river bend like the Ultra co

urse, there will some ladders along the way.

Harnesses, helmets and abseil gear will be at the top of the 4.5m cliff for an abseil down before continuing the run.

This short run will be heading upstream in the riverbed, at the “4km turn around sign” turn around and head back up the track and then finish back at the start area (ZBend Carpark) with a steady climb up the rock stairs.
