GorgeRun

Kalbarri Gorge Adventure Run showcases breath taking views of an amazing Gorge System with red rocks that Kalbarri is famous for, and you will get an opportunity to abseil as well, bonus!

The scenery in this event will blow you away, we guarantee it. Never carried a camera on a run? Make sure you take it on this one or you might regret the lack of photos to amaze your mates with when you get home. You will need to purchase a National Parks entry pass to get to this race. There are a range of options for obtaining a pass but we recommend pre-booking and obtaining your pass online to avoid having to queue at the park gates on race morning. There is usually a queue as race time approaches and you don’t want to be late for the mandatory race briefing.

ULTRA 8km

Course description:

Starting inside the National Park, you head downhill along a moderate track before a breath taking 20m abseil down an impressive red wall, and series of ladders, takes you down to the river. From there you head upstream to enjoy the magnificent scenery, more red rocks and some fantastic reflections as the sun lights up the surrounding cliffs. The courses continue along the riverbanks to reach your turn around point before returning along the same route to the access track you came down. Marvel in the stunning scenery and majesty of the place you have just visited (this will help distract you) as you ascend the narrow gully to the finish.

New to abseiling?

Wow, have you missed some adrenalin inducing fun! Don’t worry, we’ll sort that missing piece of your life with our highly experienced and qualified abseil crew. They specialise in getting you over the edge and safely to the ground. Yes, there is special equipment required (supplied by us) and you can check it out and have a ‘dry run’ with it during registration on Friday.

Highlights you don’t want to miss!

Remember mention of a camera? Here are some suggestions for truly inspiring images:

1. capture your mate coming down that impressive red-wall abseil. Unforgettable.

2. watch for the oh so clear reflections in the pools as you move through the gorge. Hard to get a bad image of those!

3. your mate looks great as you scramble along the river-worn red ledges.

4. don’t forget to look behind and up for more fantastic photo opportunities.

ENDURO 4km
