Welcome to the Murchison Dash paddle – Adventurethon Kalbarri.

One of the classic downstream paddles that takes you from dryland cattle country to the coast. Riverside scenery will keep you fascinated as you glide past the native vegetation, or look beyond to the brightly coloured cliffs. You will be travelling through ancient country moulded by the unstoppable force of the river.

Any paddle craft (K1,K2, Surfskis , Canoe, Plastics, outriggers, SUP) are welcome to attempt any of the paddle courses. Hire boats are available but please give us notice if you need to arrange a hire boat as they are in limited supply.

ULTRA 16.5km

Course description: A flat water paddle that features spectacular scenery, tidal influences and shallow water. For the paddle racers the Murchison Dash provides great marathon training and boosts Pre-Avon river fitness. The Ultra course is a point to point challenge starting at Murchison House Station and has a few shallow sand sections but the entire river can be paddled with a surf rudder if you keep in the deeper sections (which are faster anyway). Some take it seriously and others take an Esky ! Take on a challenge and finish on the riverbank with the Canoe and Cray crowd to cheer you on, take in the  incredible views of rock features from a prime viewing position on a kayak.

Paddlers can take craft out to Murchison House Station Saturday 4th June before 4:00 pm. They then catch the free paddlers bus from Kalbarri Foreshore to Murchison Station on Sunday morning for the race start. Bus leaves from Kalbarri Foreshore: 7:30 am sharp.

BUS BOOKING
ENDURO 8km

This course starts and finishes from the Kalbarri Foreshore and heads upstream for approx 4km to a turn buoy before heading back downstream. The spectacular and colourful Castle rock is right near the turn position and well worth a quick glance on the paddle. This is the ideal distance to attempt a bit of a challenge without the need to train too seriously OR to be able to really hit it hard and fast if you do train hard.

TASTE/JUNIOR 4km

Course description:

This course starts and finishes from the Kalbarri Foreshore and the distance is the perfect distance for a first time paddle race OR a flat out effort to race against your friends and family … a 2 km effort is a great challenge for the kids too (surf club nipper boards are welcome at this event). Competitors paddle upstream to a turning buoy (approximately 1 km) then return to the finish.
