Draft info so far to get your head around it.
One day event:
The one day event incorporates all 4 legs on the Sunday (day 2 of the event).
For those looking to prepare for the Coast to Coast in New Zealand in one day, or other long, high pressure, multisport events this will serve as a great measure of your present fitness level and opportunity to identify weaknesses and drive your training forward. The Gauntlet has a similar race flow at times and a relatively long paddle so you can really use this to practice your pacing, nutrition and logistics of the event.
Event Qualification:
1 Day competitors will have aggressive and strict time cut offs. We will not be familiar with the abilities and race preparations of all athletes wishing to participate in the one day event so below is a list of expectations that all entrants should have achieved prior to the race to ensure they are able to make race cut off times. You will need to be able to hold at least the following speeds:
- Run 1.6 km @ 4 min30 per km pace
- Ride 85 km @ 30 km per hour
- Run 13-20 km @ 5 mins30 per km pace
- Paddle 45 km @ 9 km per hr
Two day event:
The two day event incorporates all 4 legs: legs 1 – 3 on Day 1 and leg 4 on day 2.
For those looking to prepare for the Coast to Coast in New Zealand, this will serve as a great training event and a good tester to drive your training forward. The Gauntlet has a similar race flow at times and a relatively long paddle so you can really use this to practice your pacing, nutrition and logistics of the event.
Don’t forget, with your event spread over 2 days you can afford to go hard and really test your yourself on every leg.
Event Qualification:
We will not be familiar with the abilities and race preparations of all athletes wishing to participate in the two day event so below is a list of expectations that all entrants should have achieved prior to the race. Time cut-offs will be in place and implemented for the two day event.
