Athlete Profile – Emma Morris
Today’s Athlete Profile is on Emma Morris. Emma has registered to take on the Ultra Adventurethon at Anglesea in December. We spoke to her to find out a little more about what makes her tick.
Have you competed in Adventurethon before – which one? No, this will be my first
Have you always been active? Yes. in the outdoors always
Why Adventurethon? great disciplines and something to aim for the end of the year
Tell us about why do you do off road events. I like being in the outdoors, ‘in the elements’ and with nature.
Where do you feel your strengths lie? Mountain biking
Who inspires you to push yourself? Nature inspires me to get out there and enjoy it.
Where do you live and play? Bayside suburbs Melbourne
How important is your support crew to achieving your goals? They don’t do much but great to have around each time I come into transition.
What does your race day breakfast look like? My standard, weetbix and milk, just not heaps.
What’s the one piece of equipment that goes with you to every race and why? Chaffing cream, to stop those short rubbing down below.
What piece of advice would you give someone attempting their first Adventurethon? Enjoy the moment and look around during the race. The natural environment around is amazing
What is the best thing about being a woman in sport?
Being a woman in sport is great for it gives us that firm toned body, but really i am doing it for my mind. Time to myself, out in the elements, feeling alive and feeling i can conquer anything.
