North Queensland Schools Challenge Winner announced
The North Queensland Schools Challenge has wrapped up with a very close contest among the top 3 schools. Magnetic Island State School came away with the win (with Ryan Catholic College in 2nd and the Cathedral School in 3rd). Students from Magnetic Island State School in attendance at presentations were proud to receive the award on their behalf. The winning school receives prizes thanks to Merida and Spirit Kayaks.
“We are so excited about the North Queensland Schools Challenge here in Townsville. The children have just been amazing. They bring their friends, and family and are so positive and encouraging of each other. It is great to see so many kids escaping screen time and challenging themselves by stepping out of their comfort zones in Adventurethon” says event organizer Joel Savage.
The North Queensland Schools Challenge is an opportunity for schools to encourage students from 8 – 16 years of age to participate in a family friendly event, either as an individual or as a team. The 1km paddle, 10km mountain bike and 3.6km trail run (some variation possible between events) can be completed individually or in teams, with each participant earning a point for their school.
Congratulations to the following schools who had representation from their students:
Stage 1 of the North Queensland Schools Challenge was held April 2nd at Adventurethon Magnetic Island with students from schools around Townsville and other Queensland Schools taking part.
Each student who participates earns a point for their school and prizes are awarded to the school with the highest number of points after Stage 2 – Adventurethon Townsville, July 2nd.
